This work is inspired by the Minoan culture, developed mainly on the island of Crete during the Aegean Bronze Age (between 3,000 and 1,200 BCE). This society, perhaps the most advanced of its time, professed cults of female deities, and the most famous sculpture attributed to them, the Snake Goddess, inspires this work, with references to their most emblematic crop and Minoan symbol of female empowerment: the saffron.
